PPA Paramedic Focused Programs

As part our committement to the Paramedics of Peel Region, the PPA has been involved in various programs and initiatives that benefit Paramedics of this Region and the province.

Peel Paramedic Memorial

The first of it's kind, and spearheaded by Paramedic's Tara Pettit and Craig Hildrey, the Peel Paramedic Memorial was the launching point for the PPA, and is a memorial plaque located at Meadowvale Cemetary, and honours fallen Peel Paramedics.  The first and only Paramedic on the plaque to date, Paramedic Murray Charland was an inspiration to all Paramedics, and his death was the catalyst for this memorial and the inspiration and driving force behind the creation of the PPA.

Paramedicine 2004/2008

The PPA is proud to have co-hosted Paramedicine 2004 and 2008, the premier Paramedic education conference in Ontario in partnership with the Ontario Paramedic Association.  These conferences bring Paramedics from across the province together where they get to hear speakers from across North America, view various EMS vendor displays, highlighting the latest in technology and treatments.  Paramedics are also treated to the Annual Ontario Paramedic Association AGM and Awards Dinner and Banquet.

In 2008, the PPA was proud to be the first host city to have visitors from Japan join us and share thier best practices and view the best Canada has to offer.

Local Education Seminars

The PPA continues to host various local education seminars for our members, such as the M.A.D.D. Death Notification training seminar and financial planning for the future.

Benevolent Fund

The PPA continues to work the OPSEU Local 277 and Peel Regional Paramedic Services in the creation of a Peel Paramedic Benevolent Fund that will provide support to PRPS staff and their families in the unfortunate situation of a paramedic or family member death or catastrophic injury.
