Job Description: Position: Primary Care Paramedic
Site: Fort Albany, Kashechewan and Attawapiskat
Division: Clinical Services
Reports to: Base Supervisor
Status: Rotational Position (two week in-two week out), Full Time - Permanent
Eligible for WAHA Sign-on Bonus (up to $25,000)
Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is now accepting applications for experienced professional to fill the key role of Primary Care Paramedic.
Position Profile Requirements:
• Strong teamwork skills
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary organization to provide quality patient care
• Motivated individual open to learning and ensuring the continued development of the service and organization
• Two-week rotational schedule, working at one of the following bases: Fort Albany, Kashechewan, or Attawapiskat
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide pre-hospital care in accordance with provincial regulation and organizational policies and procedures
• Liaise with primary care providers/allied health providers such as physicians, pharmacists and care coordinators
• Provide general/appropriate pre hospital emergency medical care
• Demonstrate understanding of public health/social issues and resources
Qualifications/Experience:
• Meet all requirements for employment under the Ambulance Act of Ontario
• Valid certificate signed by the Base Hospital Physician allowing the Paramedic to perform the following controlled medical act.
o Certified in the use of Semi-Automatic Defibrillation
o Certified in symptom relief drug administration
• Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset
• Successful completion of or able to obtain A-EMCA within 210 days of graduation of a Paramedic program
• Diploma in Paramedicine
