MEDIA RELEASE - Ontario Paramedics partner with Feed Ontario
The OPA is launching the #BankThePandemicPay initiative to assist food banks across Ontario with the resources required to continue being a vital lifeline for those in need.
Eligible paramedics, who are working more than 100 hours per month are encouraged to donate their $250 per month lump sum pandemic premium to Feed Ontario.
This donation will play an integral role in getting food into the hands of Ontarians who need it most.
MEDIA RELEASE - Paramedics Essential to Ontario's Frontlines
It was recently announced that frontline workers would receive a “pandemic premium” for the next 16 weeks in light of COVID-19. The list of eligible frontline workers released on Friday April 24 did not include paramedics.
The Ontario Paramedic Association (OPA) is concerned this decision sends the wrong message to frontline healthcare workers that were excluded from the list.

2018 Children's Book Drive
Last week we wrapped up Cameron's Book Drive for 2018. On Monday, we delivered the collected books to the Peel Children's Centre. This year, with lots of help from sister Zoë, Cam was able to donate 6,686 books to the PCC, filling TWO ambulances! Over the past three years, Cameron has now donated more than 12,300 books for needy kids to read! The PPA would like to thank everyone who donated books or supported the book drive. A special thank you to the Peel Children's Centre staff, Peel Regional Paramedic Services, and to the volunteers that came out to help with the delivery: LT Kevin Kelly and Paramedics Suzanne Kalman and Sherri Rough.

Bill C-224 amends the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act so that people who call 911 to report a drug overdose are shielded from being charged with drug possession. The bill is intended to remove fear of prosecution as a barrier for people calling emergency services in overdose situations
